Santuario GambaGam is a project run by three Costa Rican brothers who decided to put their grain of effort for the conservation of tropical rainforest. This important location which belongs to the Conservation Area of Osa (ACOSA), shares most of the wildlife with the Osa Peninsula; home to 2.5% of the world biodiversity. Unfortunately this is an area that has been severely affected by poachers and illegal logging, so there's an urgent need to preserve. The commitment of a few neighbors and the effort done by the government to increase protected areas and control over the last years, seem to be working little by little. The 19 hectare property was purchased in 2006 after an exhaustive search through different parts of the country. Fulfilling the requirements set forth (water springs, rainforest area, and a real importance for conservation at the place); the Ortiz Cordero brothers made their decision and began to work hard on preparing the terrain…
I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in. John of the Mountains: The Unpublished Journals of John Muir, 1938
"Living close to nature is the greatest gift on my life; and that's exactly what a want to share with everyone who visits Santuario GambaGam. Personally this project means everything in my life; family, friends, study and research, fun, love and good cuisine are just some of the elements that make this place such an important thing. Enjoying life is about learning how to expand our five senses; hiking through the forest, sitting next to the river, observing the wildlife, and just spending good time in peace and silence are great techniques to achieve it. I like to see GambaGam not only as conservation or an eco- tourism project, but more as a place where visitors get a real opportunity to feel closer to Mother Nature and in peace within them. As a naturalist guide every day will bring me something new to learn about nature and life as a whole; but at the same time I'm more than happy whenever I got the chance to hike and share some of the knowledge I've acquire through observation. Everyone is welcome at GambaGam to enjoy and feel this good vibe…"

"There's things in our life with the ones we can't live without it, for me, Santuario GambaGam is it. This project represents our life, our dream and our most insight desires to preserve, protect and share the beauty of nature, its secrets and mysteries. Being part of this amazing process had just changed my life forever, in the most positive and amazing way you can imagine, it's at this point, where I can say that I have accomplished one of my life goals; to preserve, share and show the great importance of nature and biodiversity and the big impact this has in each of our lives, through the conservation of this peace of heaven on earth. Being able to live and cook immersed in intimate contact with nature is the most privileged situation on life, and one of the reasons why the project was created to be able to share with all of you this amazing opportunity that life has offered us. Our great food, positive vibe and the rain forest is waiting for you."

The tropical rainforest is an ecosystem that offers different views and experiences through the different months of the year. Animals and plants are alive, and so they adapt in specific ways for the rainy and the dry season. The average temperature at the South Pacific of Costa Rica is of 27.5 Celsius (82 Fahrenheit); and its variation is minimum due to the proximity with the Equator. There is a dry and a rainy season, October being the rainiest month while May is the hottest. It is good to consider that this is one of the rainiest places at the country; but even during the rainy season usually mornings are sunny and rain comes in the afternoon or at night time. Every month of the year there is something special to appreciate from the surroundings
Some important things you should remember when packing are: Light clothing, Swimsuit, Tennis shoes (Appropriate shoes for hiking creeks and rivers), Headlamp, Rain jacket, Repellent , Sunscreen, Eagerness for a great time!

At Santuario GambaGam Rainforest Eco Station we have two water springs, we use only one of them to provide water to the lodge; it's super crystalline water. The station is run without electricity; kitchen works on gas, and illumination is done with candles and torches.
